"The Titanic sank and they made an epic movie about it. But it seems like no one has paid attention to the scrap trains being taken out to the middle of the big blue sea and dumped into its endless blue depths. The Metropolitan Transit Authority’s unwanted subway cars are piled on top of one another and heaved one-by-one into the Atlantic ocean, which theatrically gulps them down and makes for some pretty epic photographs.

The MTA has plopped over 2500 subway cars in the Atlantic over the past three years in order to form new homes for underwater life after miles of natural reefs have been destroyed. So while the Little Mermaid might be using a classic number 1 train as a playground, we can mourn the loss of these beautiful old trains."
