"For a selfless act to be truly selfless, there would need to be no knowledge of future or past.
Lessons from circumstance tend to weigh too heavily in dictating actions for them not to act as an influence.
It is true that you can do something without your immediate consciousness being aware of your reason why you are doing it, but there will still be an unconscious drive towards the better outcome which will have come from as the end of a reasoning process derived from experience.

This is why I think that pyscopaths are the only ones that can be truely selfless; though all their actions are ultimatley selfless... argh, paradoxes...
